About Us
EMPS was established in 2004 and has grown yearly, with loads of enthusiastic film makers making it one of Edinburgh University's most successful and busy societies.
Throughout last year (2010-2011) EMPS members made over 40 movies, including documentaries, fictional shorts, music videos and animations. These can all be viewed online at www.youtube.com/EMPSarchive.
Competitions available to members last year included the Freshers' film competition, a music video competition, two themed 24 hour competitions (where teams have just 24 hours to make a film from scratch) and the frantic fun of the one hour competitions!
EMPS has been the starting point for many filmmakers who have gone on to work on their own projects with the contacts and friends they've made at EMPS. Also, some current and ex-members have been involved with larger productions or taken up media careers.
The EMPS committee works to ensure that the society continues to offer great events, workshops, talks and competitions to its members. They can be contacted through the contact page if you would like more information or if you are interested in helping run the society.
